Iran’s electronic capabilities pose a threat to Germany
Iran has stepped up its cyber attacks and is a threat to German companies and research institutions, the German internal intelligence agency said in its annual report.
The report, announced by Interior Minister Horst Zehover and the agency “BFV” on Tuesday, spoke of increasing cyber attacks likely to come from Iran since 2014.
The report noted that many of these attacks were detected on German targets in 2017.
The warning came as a result of recent developments between Washington and Tehran. US President Donald Trump warned Iranian President Hassan Rouhani of the consequences of his threat to the United States, threatening Tehran to face consequences that few have experienced in history if it continues to be threatened.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also stressed that his country was not afraid of imposing sanctions aimed at the Iranian regime at the highest level.
