US State Department spokeswoman Heather Neuert responded to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s rejection of the negotiating offer presented by US President Donald Trump and said that her country stood firmly against Iran’s destructive behavior.
The United States government has clearly stated its policies towards Iran, is deeply committed to it, and is not supposed to respond to the comments of all government officials around the world, Neuert said at a press conference in Washington on Tuesday.
“We are concerned about the continued bad behavior of Iran in the world, stressing that the United States is not the only country that has seen this behavior and affected by the concern of its continuation, and that other countries have the same position.”
“The United States will stand firm against Iran’s policies and malicious activities,” Neuert said.
Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in a speech on Monday rejected the American offer to negotiate again, expressing regret at the previous negotiations leading to the conclusion of the nuclear agreement in 2016, ruling out a confrontation with the United States.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that Iran has violated the agreement by developing a ballistic missile program, pursuing its destructive policies in the Middle East and reviving the spirit of 2015,He announced the withdrawal of the United States from him in May and returned all the sanctions imposed by the Obama administration on Tehran.
